This vintage 1940's floral needlepoint evening bag is an elegant and charming little purse. It will arrive in perfectly pristine condition as it appears to have never been carried. I don't typically purchase needlepoint bags but this purse has some very nice characteristics, I couldn't resist it. Although I do not see a label or mark, I have had no trouble determining that it was very likely made in France.

The floral needlepoint is very well executed and the purse is constructed like a fine French tapestry or petit point purse. The colors are vivid, without flaw or fading. The needlework is the same on both sides of the purse and the outer perimeter band is perfectly coordinated in matching details. The black piping that keeps the pieces together shows no wear nor does any part of this purse.

The frame and carry chain handle are a classic in French design. I have bought and sold enough purses to know a French frame and chain when I see it. The brassy tone frame is entirely embossed, all over, and has taken on a nice patina through the years, very pretty. The clasp closes well with a solid snap. This interior satin lining is of superb quality and the color is fabulous, a rich deep cranberry burgundy, one of the nicest colors in a lining I have come across. The interior sports dual pockets and the lining is pristine, as is the entire purse. The lining and the purse are well attached to the frame at all points and stuffed with tissue, it measures 5 in height by 6 in width, sides have an inch of depth and the chain handle drops 4½ inches. If you like the photos, you will love this purse, so take it home and just have fun.
