Art Deco rhinestone handbag 1920

I am very excited to offer you this exceptionally well cared for 1920 Art Deco era handbag. Rarely do I find an early rhinestone bag with such great stones, so bright and white in color and barely showing any age. My photos are very good, capturing most of it's beauty and radiance.  When you see it in person, you will be amazed at it's brilliance and sparkling personality, especially on a purse of this age. The quality of the stones are very evident and the size of the stones are to be admired, they are a little larger than what is found on many rhinestone purses.

My photos were taken without flash, in normal room lighting and express the personality of the bag very well. There have to be nearly 1000 stones on this purse, all prong set and very few if any showing age or minor discolor.



 

         

The metal prongs, holding the stones, have taken on an aged patina but the stones are so white and bright that nothing takes away from this rhinestone handbag. The silver tone frame looks like it could be silver plated because there is some small brass tone showing on the top of the clasp. The frame itself shows no wear and the arched shape is a nice treat, I don't acquire many rhinestone purses with this shape. The lift up to open clasp is a classic in Art Deco design, it is set with additional stones and a few of them are slightly yellowing but not too obviously at all.

         

The interior lining is a vintage soft ivory satiny fabric that is showing some age but no tears or problems. There is a stain over by one of the hinges, the pocket is secure. There is a spot toward the top where it looks like a round paper label may have been attached at one time, giving me reason to think this may have been made in Czechoslovakia. Since the lining is stable and well attached, I have not tried to remove these issues, they are not that naughty. Overall this purse measures 5 in height by 5½ wide across the bottom and the delicate little chain handle drops 3½ inches. Everything is in excellent vintage condition, the only thing to mention is a small previous repair that was done to secure the mesh at one of the hinges. Someone did a good job and it certainly does not distract, it's hardly noticeable. Surely, anyone would be thrilled to own this rare and hard to acquire vintage Art Deco rhinestone handbag.
