My photos are very good and show the colors as best as I could display
them, especially on the close-up pictures. The background tone is a definite blue, however, you may see the tone as
being a bit greenish as well. The interior of the floral petals are a rich gold
enamel and the outer edges of the petals and stems are a deep and glowing blue
turquoise. The colors are
strong and the enamel is well applied. There are only very small paint losses in
a couple of places, under the hinges where the tiles rub on the metal and toward
the bottom on one side, there seems to be something amiss on portions of about 3
tiles, like something rubbed onto the enamel, nothing too naughty or obvious but
want to mention for accuracy. The enamel paint maintains it's sheen and I
consider this purse to be in very good to excellent overall condition. The mesh
is tight to the frame at all points, no gaps at the hinges and no structural
flaws.
The silver toned frame is well embossed with another expression from the Art
Nouveau era. The center has two cornucopias with flowing florals and lots of
other swirly designs. The
shape of the frame has soft lines and is in excellent condition with no bends,
it closes and opens as it should. I have given the metal a gentle cleaning in
order to reduce the old tarnish, distinguish it's fascinating details and reveal it's true character. The
interior of the frame is signed by the Mandalian Manufacturing Co. and it is
unlined, as most of these mesh bags were. The hinges and clasp are both in solid working order.
Structurally, this purse is in great condition and nothing wrong that I detect.
 
The bottom V-shape of the purse is accentuated with 5 enameled drops. These
drops have a little paint wear here and there, as is to be expected and is
considered common wear on purses with this feature, with the most wear being on
the bottom drop, particularly on one side. This fantastic vintage Mandalian mesh
purse measures over 7 inches from the
tip of the clasp to the bottom of the center drop by 3⅞ across the frame and the
bright silver chain handle drops the purse by 5 inches. Please consider
adding this delightful Mandalian enameled mesh purse to your treasury of finer
antique handbags. I do believe you will be
very pleased with this Art Nouveau enameled mesh bag, it's a pretty one and the
condition is very good.
