Thank you for looking at this gorgeous 1920 Mandalian enameled mesh purse. This beautiful abstract butterfly design incorporates two of the most popular eras, the Art Nouveau (1890 - 1905) and the Art Deco (1920 - 1930's). The pattern is quite stark in the color tones of a rich coral pink, a deep burgundy red and a jet black, all  on a white background. The color scheme is a bit more unusual than what I am accustomed to seeing, although quite pleasant.

The butterfly profiles are apparent, with their large dual wings, tentacles and elongated bodies. Below them, the pattern radiates down to cover the greater portion of the mesh and takes on a much more Art Deco persona. The colors are intense and without loss, actually I really don't see any wear on this purse at all. The enamel paint has a wonderful glossy sheen and I will not hesitate to call this purse near perfect, if not pristine. The mesh tiles are attached at all points, as they should be. There are no gaps at the hinges, in fact, the mesh tiles at the hinge areas are exceptionally snug. I see absolutely no issues or negatives to report on this purse, it's hard to find mesh bags this good.

The silver toned frame pulls both the Nouveau and the Deco eras together. The shape of the frame is sculpted in a step down Deco form but the embossed floral design is essentially Art Nouveau. I have cleaned and polished the old tarnish off the frame, as best as I could, revealing it's true beauty and character. The interior of the frame is signed by the Mandalian Manufacturing Co. and it is unlined, as most of these mesh bags were. The hinges and clasp are both in solid working order. The bottom is skirted with a full and frilly chain mesh fringe, with all strands appearing to be in place. The fringes are a fairly bright silver tone with just a little tarnish here and there, they really look much nicer than the photos. Structurally, this purse is fabulous, not one flaw or loss that I can detect.

This creative vintage treasure measures 7½ inches from the tip of the clasp to the bottom of the fringes by 3½ across the frame and the bright silver chain handle drops the purse by 5 inches. Please consider adding this delightful Mandalian enameled mesh purse to your collection of finer antique purses. I do believe you will be very pleased with this butterfly enameled mesh bag, it's wonderful and the condition is all that the most pickiest of buyers would appreciate.
