Please take a close look at this extremely lovely vintage hand beaded French evening purse, made exclusively for the designer Josef. It's unfortunate that I could not display all the sparkle that this purse exhibits, I really wanted you to see it, so please remember that this purse does shimmer. |

The body of this purse is covered in tiny pearly bright white glass seed beads and it appears that nearly every bead is in place, perhaps one or two out of the thousands are gone but nothing very apparent. This purse has an especially pleasing pastel floral display of cut and faceted glass beads, which gives this purse a wonderful twinkle and adds the perfect amount of glitter. The colors of the flowers include lavender, pink, blue, pale yellowy green and sort of a coral, if it looks orange on your screen, there is no orange on this purse. The flowers and accompanying floral outer border cover a good portion of the beading and the pattern is the same on both sides, save for some of the colors being in reverse.
The radiant golden toned frame has a brushed-like appearance, it is nice and
bright, showing just a little normal expected aging. The real treat
is the clasp, I am not a gemologist but I believe that the cabochons
in the clasp are genuine aurora borealis, in any case, that is what
I am choosing to call them. Look at the close-up and
judge their beauty for yourself, these are very special stones. The frame,
hinges and clasp are sound, secure and in
proper working order, the purse closes with a gentle snap. This
purse has been professionally and thoroughly cleaned, so the beading
is pure white and carries only a scent of freshness with no apparent
discolorations.
The purse feels lovely when held, has a medium
hand, with just the right amount of stiffness.
This purse has a bit more weight to it, as it is a rather larger evening handbag
and will carry everything you will need. Stuffed with tissue it measures a
generous 7 inches in height by 8½ inches across the widest
section, the sides span 1½ inches and the slinky styled chain handle drops 5
inches. This fashionable French Josef beaded evening handbag deserves
your attention. The interior has it's original clean ivory satin lining with dual pockets and designer label.
The interior lining appears only very
gently used, if even that, it really is fabulous, an easy to love purse. Thank
