This all black and all steel beaded evening handbag was hand woven in France during the 1930's era. It comes from a fabulous collection of purses that were very well cared for and barely, if at all, used. This evening purse certainly shows no signs of age or usage, it is in perfectly gorgeous condition. These hand woven purses are difficult to find in this shape, this example is a lovely and well-designed fashion accessory.

The all black steel beads offer a color that is a basic necessity in every wardrobe but look closely and you will see a very subtle pattern woven into the purse. There are two types of steel beads used that produce a feathery like pattern that frames the outer border of the purse, both bottom and sides. The center of the purse has small oval shapes, both of these patterns are woven with contrasting shiny jet black beads. The beadwork is pristine, both sides of the purse are identical, I find no faults, wear or problems to mention. There are no separations in the weave and no splitting of the seams. The purse is well attached to the frame as it should be. The gold tone frame is shiny, straight and right, showing very little age. The clasp is the lift to open, spring tension style, that spans the length of the purse and operates on a piano hinge. All segments of this purse are in solid working order, opening and closing with ease. Even the chain handle is a classic in style and design. The interior is lined with a rich black satin with a roomy pocket that is signed made in France. The lining is as wonderful as the rest of the purse and everything appears to be very clean. Stuffed with tissue, this purse measures 6 in height by 9 at the bottom width, the sides gusset out about 1¼ inches and the chain handle drops 5½ inches. This elegant evening bag is the perfect size and will carry all that you need for the opera, your next black tie event or any special occasion.
