I really enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful repousee workmanship, showing
all the marvelous detailing. The center arena is sculpted with whimsical and
playful cherubs and above that is the stunning Victorian clasp, one of my
favorite designs. Both sides of the cherubs are flanked with pierced moldings
which include additional prancing figures, Art Nouveau floral, leaves and
lattice work. The frame is carried by a rather chunky chain that drops the frame
by 6 inches.
Although the frame is not signed or marked that I have found, there is no
debating it's Victorian origins. All elements of this frame are in sound working
order and it is ready to receive your purse or to adorn your treasured
collection. Both sides of the frame are identical and measures as follows: 6 &
1/4 across the hinges, 5 & 1/2 sew hole to sew hole at the hinge area, 2 & 1/2
up the interior sides and 4 inches up the to fancy clasp. I think you'll agree
when you see it that it is lovely, could use a tad bit more cleaning that what I
have done but I hate to remove too much of the vintage patina. It's a winner and
will arrive in splendid antique condition.
